The main thing to be successful in college baseball is to win the 3-game series and, when the opportunity arises, take advantage and sweep a team. Yet we continued to struggle on the mound Sunday against Miami (Ohio). Although we only gave up nine hits, which isn’t terrible in college baseball, we also allowed eight walks and three hit batters. Starting pitcher Kyle Putnam had a rough day at the office giving up 5 runs within the first two innings and our bullpen wasn’t much better. We had a great weekend overall but went home with a sour taste in our mouth. We ended up losing 8-1 but took a lot of positives away from this weekend. A lot of freshman stepped up and played well and most of the pitchers had a good weekend overall. We quickly erased the memory of the Sunday and headed back to freezing cold New York to get ready for Richmond.
